After what felt like both a millisecond and a millennium in time, installation week arrived.
There were essentially three stages to transforming the area from a studio into an exhibition space, or technically four if you include the stage of repeating most of the painting after the gum-taped walls fell down.
First was the blank studio space. This needed re-painted with all nail holes/imperfections fixed with filler and the gaps between the walls smoothed over with gum tape. After this, I washed down the floor and cleaned up the area ,ready for the monsters to be moved into the space.
Once this was done, I moved the first of the three monster sculptures into place, playing about with layout and flow for the best possible viewer experience.
Alongside these soft sculptures is a framed A0 group drawing of most of the monsters together, which I had assistance in fixing to the wall. This also ties in with the book (see previous posts) which displays the drawings that the sculptures emerged from.
